F.I.N.A.L.L.Y.

I started this blog nearly three years ago. And for about the past year, I've been so tired of it, hesitantly sending people here for lack of any better way to display current work. Now that the time has come to say goodbye to this old site, I feel so happy, relieved, excited and proud to show my shiny new blog-site. But goodbyes are always hard and I can't help but feel a little nostalgia to this blog where the past three years of my life/work is chronicled. *tear* Thank you to all that have kept up with my little blog but now...get on over to my NEW BLOG-SITE!

I'm THAT kind of dog person...

Life with a dog is great. I'll be the first to admit, I am THAT dog person. I'm a "let my dog sleep in my bed and lick my face" kind of dog person. I'm a "talk in the doggie voice because you are da cuuuutest widdle doggie I have ever seen" kind of dog person. Obsessed? Maybe just a little. But I'm certain I am a better person because of my dog. Ike is pretty much the star of the show around here so when he is gone, I miss him. Like crazy. He is with the grandparents this week because we are headed out to shoot a wedding in Cozumel!

Yeah, I'm a "get emotional over lunch leftovers that I usually give to my dog but he's not here now" kind of dog person.

And yes, I still eat mac and cheese from the box every now and then. Ike loves it. :)

We'll be back soon to share images from much warmer places and news for the launch of the new site. I swear, it's coming soon.

I'll be the first to admit, I've been hibernating from my blog a bit. I have all the usual excuses...busy trying to catch up with editing, busy with Christmas shopping, busy with Christmas cards, busy with family, busy traveling for the holidays, busy working on new branding materials, busy, busy, busy. But the main reason I haven't been posting much is that I am waiting for my shiny new blog-site that is sooooo close to being finished! Although this blog has treated me well, I am so so so excited for my new one! Nonetheless, I still wanted to write a very belated Christmas and New Year's post here. These calendars were a fun Christmas project and Ike (our dog and star of the show) especially enjoyed the Christmas/New Years cards. :)

Brianna and Ryan

Brianna and Ryan had hands down, the most original wedding ever. EVER. They were married on October 31, yes, Halloween! Their goal was to have a unique wedding, something different from the more standard wedding day traditions which I think they achieved! Sticking with the Halloween theme, they wanted to do their photos in a cemetery and I'm always up for trying different things so to the cemetery we went! The reception was decked out in full blown Halloween decor. Everywhere we looked, there were skulls and R.I.P sign and skeletons and cobwebs and guests dressed in costumes. Congratulations on a totally original wedding day!

Sean and Britta

A couple weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to second shoot for my friend and incredibly talented photographer Shawna Noel at Sean and Britta's wedding! Their preparations for the day started at the Hotel Ivy and then we moved to Cafe Lurcat for the ceremony and reception. Both Sean and Britta and their families were incredibly charming, the venues were phenomenal and working with Shawna is always a blast! Needless to say, it was a great day! Congratulations to Sean and Britta!

Along with Britta's wedding dress, she also wanted to include her mother's wedding
dress in the photos along with both of her grandmother's dresses. So cool.

I know I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus lately but it's because I'm working on lots of stuff like the new brand, new website/blog (and yes, I realize I've been saying "the new website is coming" for the past year but really, it IS coming!), and I've also been spending more time creating fun and unique ways to display photographs in homes. I think one of the saddest things about the digital photography era is that so few photographs actually get printed. Seeing photographs on a computer screen is OK and it's convenient but it cannot compare to holding a printed photo in hand. So I have been working on printing large, beautiful gallery wrap canvases, press printed coffee table books, and albums...all things I love for display options. I am sooo excited to share Teri and Mike's album! It is a 8x20 (16x20 when open) album with a metal photo cover accented with a textured leather. Emily, a fabulous designer from Albumesque, an album design company designed Teri and Mike's album and did an awesome job! To see the entire design, click here!

Arday and Kara

Arday and Kara were married on a gorgeous September day at the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo, ND. Following the ceremony, they continued the celebration just a block away from the church at the Plains Art Museum. Kara and Arday (I think mostly Kara!) meticulously planned all the gorgeous details about the day. And boy, was it was gorgeous. Kara's mom made ALL the dresses, which were stunning. Kara created her own flower arrangements, table decorations, programs, everything! I was totally impressed!

Arday, (my fellow Cobber) it was so fun to meet Kara...she is beautiful! And Kara, I'm so happy you and Arday found one another! We had so much fun photographing your big day! Congratulations to you both!

Kallie and Dan

You may remember Kallie and Dan from their engagement shoot last fall. How fun it has been to document this fun stage in their life! To begin to describe their wedding is impossible so let's just say it was awesome. They were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown, SD and the church was filled with lots of family and friends. A fun reception followed at the Watertown Event Center. They wanted lots of fun couple and wedding party photos so they gave us lots of time and creative freedom. Did I mention they are awesome? I've been loving wide open fields lately so they indulged me and tromped around in the tall grasses...they were real troopers! Kallie and Dan, thanks so much for the honor and joy to document this special day for you. May your life together be filled with tons of love, laughter, and joy! CONGRATS!

Kallie's sister and brother-in-law, Erin and Charlie welcomed this little one, Maria just a few weeks before the wedding! As a side note, we did her newborn pictures not too long before the wedding (I'm behind on blogging!) I just love how little she looks next to grandpa's hands!

I told you they were troopers. Who wouldn't be willing to lay down in the ~~weeds~~ tall grass in wedding clothes?

Dan's family had been hatching some butterfly cocoons. Between the ceremony and the reception, Dan's mom stopped home to check on them and wouldn't you know, one had hatched during the ceremony! You can see the wings aren't even open yet!

Lots of friends and family gathered at the chapel on the University of St. Thomas to share in celebrating the love between a Tommie (Emily) and a Cobber (Ryan)! George and Gretchen had a gorgeous outdoor wedding overlooking Trout Lake at the Red Crown Lodge near Minocqua, WI. It poured rain that morning and threatened to continue raining for the whole day but thankfully held off for all the photos, ceremony, and reception. It was a perfect day. And George and Gretchen are incredible...nothing could dampen their spirits, not even the rain! They were so much fun and although we didn't get a chance to meet before the wedding, by the end of the day, we felt like we had known them for years. Congratulations on a beautiful wedding and a beautiful marriage!

Carla and Chad were married outdoors way up north at the Grand Ely Lodge in Ely, MN. It was a tad windy but insanely gorgeous. Carla is also insanely gorgeous. Carla with Chad by her side is even more insanely gorgeous. Carla and Chad, I feel so honored to be able to capture your love...it was both a joy and an honor. I hope that married life brings you many more days as perfect as your wedding day...CONGRATULATIONS!

Shawna and Kory of Shawna Noel Photography are awesome. They've been brave and accepted the challenge of photographing me and Justin a couple times and they still talk to us despite the fact that we are IMPOSSIBLE subjects! AND they make us look good! Miracle workers, indeed. (You can see us here!) So needless to say, photographing them was like trying to make dinner for Rachael Ray. No pressure. Luckily, they are naturals on both sides of the camera!

I am most definitely not a writer. I've always known that but I literally have been trying to find words for almost 2 hours. Words that can express joy and sadness. Words that can express my gratitude to Sophia. Words that can ease the pain. The truth is, there are no words. There are no words to adequately describe the beauty of Sophia. There are no words to describe her perfect little fingers and toes. No words to describe how amazing it was to witness the way she captivated the hearts of her mom and dad. No words to describe the love exuding from Sophia's whole family. No words to describe what an honor it was to photograph her and her sweet family. Let me just say, it was beautiful.

Rejoicing in the gift of life and grieving because it was simply too short, I wish you love, peace, and gratitude, sweet angel, Sophia Rebbecca.

Candace and Zack

I wish I was a better writer so I could adequately describe how awesome it was to photograph Zack and Candace on their wedding day. I could go on and on about how great these two are as individuals...Candace is incredibly sweet, adorable, hard working, adorable, stylish, did I mention adorable, and so so so genuine. Zack is equally as cool and innovative (I have to plug his company Socialbrowse...check it out!) but possibly the most striking thing about them is how in love they are and how well they compliment one another. These two radiate with joy and I'm certain they will have a married life filled with laughter, love, and happiness. What an honor it was to witness and document this day! Congrats!

Lisa and Ryan are simply wonderful. They are the kind of people that you feel honored to called friends. They are the kind of friends that you can just pick up where you left off like no time has ever passed. AND they are new parents! How fun it was to capture this time in their life...first as they were anticipating the birth of their first baby and then celebrating the first few weeks of her life! Harper is absolutely gorgeous and has quite obviously stolen the hearts of her mom and dad. Congratulations on a beautiful baby girl!

Will is, hands down, the best baby ever. One of my favorite designers, Leigh Standley of Curly Girl Design, has a card that describes Will perfectly...it says, "Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is." Will is the epitome of big love in a little package....this is especially evident in his mom and dad's eyes when they are with him. We are all going to love watching you grow, Will!

As expected, Mike and Teri had a killer wedding. You might remember them from their engagement shoot back in January. Their ceremony was at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with a beautiful reception at the Rochester Art Center. It's hard to describe such a perfect day in words...What an honor it was to hear you two share your vows, committing yourselves to each other, all the while being surround by family and friends who love you so much. I'm so happy to see you two so happy! Congratulations on a beautiful wedding and a beautiful love.

I have the best family ever. I also have the best "second" family ever. In 2005, I moved out to Washington, DC for a photo internship at the Air and Space Museum, not knowing a soul. Sarah and her whole family agreed to let me live with them. Not only did they welcome me into their home, they welcomed me into their family and their lives. For that, I am forever grateful. It blows my mind that Sarah is graduating and heading off to college soon. She is beautiful. Inside and out. I can't say enough good things about this girl...she is incredibly smart, funny, creative, AND she loves photography! I'm thankful to call her my "second sister" and friend. I can't wait to see where life takes you, Sarah! No matter what you do, you will go far! Congrats!

One of the coolest things that I got to do while I was at the Air and Space Museum was be in the press pit during the dedication of Space Ship One. What makes it even cooler is that they used my photo of the designer (Burt Rutan) and project funder (Paul Allen) on the information kiosk in front!

Annyaneris and Fausto: Engagement

Ann and Fausto had a fabulous beach wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! Because they live in New York, we didn't get a chance to meet before arriving in the Dominican so we did a quick engagement session the day before the wedding. Justin was along to assist and do a little second shooting so I speak for the both of us when I say Ann and Fausto were a blast! I know it's redundant to say, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe how fast babies grow!" But honestly, I can't believe how fast babies grow! Bailey is most definitely a little girl now with a big personality...sorry mom, I don't think there's much baby left in her! We met at the Plains Art Museum in Fargo a few weeks ago and man, I love that place. Bailey had a huge "princess" dance floor and I was loving the light!

BLEND workshop : Santa Fe

At the end of March, I headed down to the Encantado Resort (which, by the way, is incredible) in Santa Fe to attend the BLEND workshop taught by Nate and Jaclyn of The Image is Found, Jesh De Rox, and Jose Villa. I have to admit, I was a bit star struck to be in the same state with these fine photographers. Imagine my star struck level when I was actually in the SAME ROOM as them! :) It was incredible to say the least. I really didn't shoot much, but I got a few:

The awesome, Jose who is a primary film shooter. Love him.

Because this was such a small group of workshop attendees, we were able to get to know the other Blend-ees pretty well, which was cool.
I just wish we all lived closer so we could hang out...thanks to facebook and twitter, we can still be virtual friends!

Lacie, Jose's assistant, did a little modeling for us! Fun fact: She is from MN! Second fun fact: Including Lacie,
there were 4 of us from Minnesota! Out of a group of about 30, we did our part to represent!

They are just too cute and the color/early morning Vegas light provided a welcomed change of scenery from the drab Minnesota scene... :) I know my posts have been lacking lately. WPPI Highlights

Admittedly, Las Vegas is not my idea of an ideal vacation spot but during the week of WPPI, there is no place I'd rather be. I just returned from a week full of educational classes, a trade show packed full of fabulous photography vendors, and connecting with photographers from around the world. I'm brimming with new ideas and excitement!

Some highlights:

1. Photo Shoot with Jasmine Star!

I admittedly blog stalk Jasmine Star. Not only is she a fabulously talented photographer, she is an incredible writer, and an all around inspiring person. Last year at WPPI, I saw her across the room, worked up the guts to introduce myself to her and before I knew what was happening, tears were streaming down my face. I wanted to tell her how much I admired her as a person as well as her work but all I could manage was something like "Uh, I like uh, really love, uh your work..." Pretty impressive, Emily. I wanted to sink into the floor. I'm not joking when I say it was like meeting a celebrity! Thankfully, she was incredibly sweet, gave me a big hug, and was so gracious.

Needless to say, I was THRILLED when I was randomly selected to be a part of a group of 20 other photographers for an early morning sample photo shoot with her! We all brought our cameras and got to shoot right along side Jasmine and her husband, JD, who is equally as sweet as she is. This experience was definitely the top highlight of my week (maybe even my year).

As a small side note, I was totally excited to also meet Amy Wenzel at the shoot as well! :)

2. Seeing the Mammoth Men sing karaoke at the BluDomain gathering!

The Mammoth Men are comprised of twelve awesome photographers (each with their own photo business) who take random trips every now and then and rely on their blog readers to "choose their adventure" for the day. They are extremely talented and hilarious. Again, I felt like I was seeing celebrities! Check out Kelli Nicole's blog for some photos of them (Shawna and I even made it in the background of one of them....see if you can find us!).

What made it even more fun was the fact that Shawna and Kory were there from Shawna Noel Photography!

I also made some new friends! Tim and Angela Chin from Montreal, Canada!
Angela and I were extremely excited to be in front of the Mammoth Men!

Harold is another new friend! He is a photographer and also does some work for a new album
company that is on my radar! And who doesn't love a photobooth!?

3. Connecting with friends from last year!

I'm blogging from my iPhone in Las Vegas...I love technology. I am here for WPPI, a HUGE photography convention. I've been here since Friday and have already run into several "photo friends" that I met last year! It's so fun to be here, meet fabulous people, learn a ton, and be inspired by complete immersion in everything photography! It doesn't hurt that the weather is slightly nicer than Minnesota too! I'm not a huge TV watcher. And I don't really want to admit the one show that I make a point to watch every week.

American Idol.

There, I said it. I admit to falling head over heels for the reality show despite the fact that singing in public terrifies me. Sure, the utterly ridiculous drama, idiosyncratic contestants, and insulting critiques can be entertaining and comical. But amidst all that, I find myself inwardly rooting for those contestants putting it all out there, doing anything they can to (albeit very cliche) chase their dream.

I am inspired when I witness people chasing their dreams. And if I can be inspired by flipping American Idol, just imagine how inspired I was when I had the opportunity to photograph Brian Olsen.

Jack and Sam

Jack and Sam are cousins but are more like brothers. Their moms are identical twins, and I do mean identical! Both their looks and personalities are interchangeable and they are both a ton of fun. Last time I photographed Jack, he was about a year old and Sam was just 2 weeks old! Needless to say, they both are growing so fast and this time, we tried to get some "cousin" pictures along with Sam's 7 month photos! Oh how I wished for a video camera to capture both moms and grandpa putting on a small circus, desperate for some smiles! What a hoot!

The Lemon and the Lime

The journey that this crazy thing called a photography business has taken me on has been nothing short of incredible! Some of you know the story of Lemon Lime Studios but it all started in the dark room at Concordia College. Molly and I dreamed and loosely joked about our "photography business" that we would have some day. Kind of like the way you joke about winning the lottery....something you really want but don't think it's attainable. And what would an imaginary business be without an imaginary name...of course, it would unofficially be named Lemon Lime Studios because if you spell Emily backwards and remove the Y, you get lime. And if you spell Molly backwards, it's nothing close to lemon but just use your imagination! Way cheesy, right? But yep, I just admitted it all and the lemon and the lime has stuck. Fast forward a couple years and the real life Lemon Lime Studios is up and running, dare I even say thriving? So, so, so awesome. Over the past months, you've heard bits and pieces of new business names, new websites, new etc. etc. and now, finally one of us actually has something to show from the redesign process! Molly's new website and blog are up and running and I couldn't be happier for her!

My site, One Lime Photo, is coming along but let's face it, I'm ~~a perfectionist~~ indecisive and take FOREVER with these things! I can assure you though, it will be worth the wait! And as a side note, the gallery will be changing over very soon as the Lemon Lime Studios site is slowly phased out *tear* but I'll keep you posted on that! David and Erika were married on a cold, but beautiful day at the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel in St. Paul with a reception following at the Chart House. Dave and Erika were awesome...so laid back, so sincere, and so happy to just enjoy every bit of their day together. From the first day that I moved to Rochester, I liked the town. But it wasn't until I starting meeting people like Teri, that I actually liked living here. I could go on and on about how awesome Teri is...she's the kind of person that you just want to be friends with. Not only is she kind and compassionate, she is also motivated, driven, and extremely successful. Just so happens that Mike is all of these things as well, which is why they make a great pair. Teri and Mike, I'm thankful to call you both friends and can't wait to celebrate with you at your upcoming wedding!

I've got a long list of goals for 2009, one of which is to display images BIG! I don't think it gets much bigger than billboards! It's so fun to see work displayed, even more fun to see work displayed so large! Now I just need to find a way to talk Justin into a billboard size print for the living room... :)

Nathalie and Tayt were married on December 27...the last wedding of the year and what a great way to wrap up 2008! They were married at Concordia College (my favorite!) in Moorhead, MN and had their reception at Oxbow Country Club. It was cold, but Nathalie (and her bridesmaids) were real troopers...braving the snow in open toed high heels! I'm certain that the guys complained about the cold more... :) Congratulations on a beautiful wedding!

Nothing says "Happy New Year" like a nice, clean, organized desk! I didn't get the Christmas cards designed or sent but I did get my desk cleaned. And when the desk is clean, I'm certain I can conquer the world. Never mind the stacks that will accumulate in a week, for now it's clean and I am ready for the upcoming year! It's easy for me to get overwhelmed with all the things that I want to accomplish, to improve on, to blog about...but as I am preparing for a new year and setting new goals, it's so fun to look back at the beginning of 2008 and reflect on the accomplishments and attained goals over the past year. I'm not quite sure how Christmas is over but nonetheless, I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas! I met with the Flor Family right before Christmas on a beautiful winter day (and yes, I did use beautiful and winter in the same sentence...I'm trying to stay positive about winter weather!) for an extended family portrait! This happened to be a surprise gift for Grandma and Grandpa which I thought was really cool. You might recognize one of the granddaughters, Siri from earlier this year. It was one of those days where you don't actually remember the day or what happened during the day, just really strange and vivid snippets...For example, I remember sitting next to this girl in art class, looking at the beagle sticker on her class planner and thinking that we could be friends since she obviously likes dogs. I remember thinking it was weird that the first three letters of this girl with the dog sticker's last name and mine were the same. And I remember that I was wearing the coolest turquoise and black Nike tennis shoes of all time. These strange memories were from the first day that I met Leah in the seventh grade. I'm pretty sure we bonded quickly over our mutual love of dogs and the first three letters of our last names and since that day in seventh grade, there have been many more things other than stickers and letters that have kept Leah and I calling each other friends. Too many to name. And though we're separated by miles, it is still both an honor and joy to have her in my life. That is why it was so special for me to be able to document this incredible time in her and her husband, Jeff's lives. All my love and deepest congratulations to you both! I can't wait to meet Baby L.!!!

Mark it on your calendar. A blog post on my photography blog with out a photo. It's 12:16am and I'm still awake, which is not atypical for me...I am a night-owl which is primarily genetic (are you still up, Grandma V.?) but partially because I have a hard time shutting my brain off. I can't believe it's December already. But then again, I think I say the same thing every month! I can't believe it's...fill in whatever month it is! Time is flying by. But now I'm sounding redundant. I'm so close to being caught up with my editing...1 wedding and 2 portrait sessions...YEAH! At one point, I was behind 6 weddings and 29 portrait sessions...a big thank you to all you patient people out there! How it got to that point, I'm not sure. But I like to learn lessons that hard way and I guarantee you, that will NEVER happen again. And although I'm feeling more comfortable with the editing load, there's still so much I want to do: New website (that's been a long time coming, but it took the back seat all summer and I want to make sure it's just right), branding, adjusting to a new business name (one lime photo!), brochures, designing coffee table books, making new samples, trying out this technique, and that editing style, and just plain continuing to improve my photography, my business, myself. And that is why I can't sleep sometimes. Because I'm so overjoyed with where this journey has taken me and because I'm so excited for where how it will continue to grow. There's a million people to thank so I won't even go there but family, friends, mentors, clients, peers, thank you. Perhaps this is somewhat of a cross between a Thanksgiving, New Year's resolution, and I just plain can't sleep post but nonetheless, I'm thankful that I can lay in bed, contemplate life and spill my guts to you, cyber friends, while listening to the rest of the world sleep. Maybe I will be able to sleep now. Or maybe go edit... :)

Next time I'll stick to posting photos, I promise.

A ginger-headed boy a small raven-haired girl were married at the gorgeous Assumption Catholic Church in St. Paul followed by dinner and dancing at the Landmark Center. Mike and Emily had fabulous autumn weather on their day and I loved the classic feel that was carried out in all the details of their celebration. However, the weather and details were not the only things that were beautiful. Emily was STUNNING and even more so when surrounded by Mike and the abundance of their family and friends. It is evident that there is not a shortage of love in either family. Congratulations, Emily and Mike! It was both an honor and a joy to be a part of your day!

Forgoing the formal photos in the front of the church, Emily and Mike decided to take a more casual and relaxed approach to their "formal" photos. They did them all outside at Rice Park in St. Paul. I loved it! We did a couple of just the two of them afterwards!

Emily's dad had a plan to minimize tears/stress prior to walking down the isle....the plan: giving Emily a pair of Mr. Potatohead glasses!

I think the hardest part about moving to a new city is meeting new friends. So when Molly's former roommate introduced me to her friend from college (did you catch all that?), I was ecstatic to meet a potential new friend! I guess meeting new friends is sort of like the dating scene which is why Megan and Scott and Justin and I referred to our first get together as a date! I'm happy to say that we just celebrated our 1 1/2 year anniversary of being friends! Megan and Scott are great. Some of our fondest memories from Rochester thus far have involved Megan and Scott including their recent introduction to the fabulous and addicting game of marbles (all inquiries for who is ahead in this game can be directed toward Megan and me). And one more thing, Ike is in love with their dog, Chloe.

Kallie and Dan are getting married! I went to high school with both Kallie and Dan. In fact, I sat just down the line from Dan in band. He was on track for choosing a great instrument in the low brass department but fell a little bit short in his choice of the trombone instead of the euphonium, which is clearly superior to all low brass! (Side note: A euphonium is what I played! Don't know what a euphonium is?? Google it.) Although Dan's instrument choice is slightly lacking, his choice in picking Kallie is out of this world! She is an awesome person! I know this because I used to chat with her on ICQ (remember that chatting program!?!?) late into the night discussing world peace, boys, and other extremely important issues at age 16. :) Interesting fact: Kallie and Dan never dated in high school! It wasn't until they were out of school and living in the cities when sparks started to fly! We shot their engagement session at and around the ultra cool Rice Park in St. Paul (I also have an awesome Rice Park wedding to blog about SOON!). I can't wait for their August wedding in Watertown, SD! I'm secretly hoping Kallie's older sister, Erin from Erin and Charlie's wedding, will prepare an incredible "photo spreadsheet" like she did at her wedding! Congrats and happy planning, guys!

Who would have thought that a summer band camp roommate would be more than just a summer band camp roommate? Yes, this summer band camp roommate of mine became more than just a roommate. She became a dear friend. One of those kinds of friends that even though you don't keep in touch regularly, you can just pick up right where you left off. We decided it had been seven years since we had last seen each other but it was weird because, it felt more like seven WEEKS, not YEARS! Nonetheless, it was so fun to see Jessica again, meet her Justin, and photograph their special day! And what a special day it was! Congratulations, my friends!

Brevin, Teagan, and family

It seems like just yesterday that I met Brevin, Teagan, and their parents at Quarry Hill last year for photos but really, it was a year ago (almost to the day!!). This year, we went to the Plummer House and I can't believe how much the kids have changed! They are still as sweet as ever and this year, we snuck mom and dad in a few too!

Photographing this family is like photographing old friends. Really. How can you resist those cheeks on Matthew and Isabella's princess dress?

I got the Brady Bunch song stuck in my head for a LONG time after seeing this photo.

April and Jeremy have been waiting for their wedding day for quite a while now! April is incredibly organized (which I love!) and didn't miss a single detail. They tied the knot at a cute little church in Dalton, MN and the reception was held at the beautiful Thumper Pond near Detroit Lakes, MN. I hope this day was everything you had dreamed about! Congrats!

Not sure what it is, but I love something about this photo.

I try REALLY hard to be discreet about photos during the ceremony but I also really love to get close photos that show emotion as well. So I was really excited to find this door leading from the sanctuary to the rest of the church open just a crack...enough for me to get a great close up shot AND stay hidden! That is, until the pastor came in during his transition from the message to the rest of the ceremony. I'm not sure who was more startled. Oops.

It was a REALLY good song!

Awww...it's my favorite to photograph families multiple times. I last saw twins Anna and George in April and at that time they were barely walking! I'm pretty sure they can run faster than me now! How fun it is to see them grow and change so quickly!

Don't you just want to squeeze those little cheeks?? Michael is such a sweet baby. He kept his eyes wide open for the first few photos and then fell fast asleep. The good thing is, he is just as cute sleeping as he is awake!

Otise & John's Chicago Wedding!

I met Otise and John at Laura and Ray's wedding in the Dominican Republic and was immediately drawn to their personalities, their striking good looks, and the chemistry between them. All these things rolled together made for a really fun impromptu photo shoot (it didn't hurt that we were on an insanely beautiful beach in the Caribbean either!) Needless to say, I was super excited to also photograph their wedding in Chicago! Otise and John planned a beautiful wedding ceremony (long distance, mind you, as they are currently living on the east coast!) at the Joseph Bond Chapel on the campus of the University of Chicago followed by a killer reception at the Quadrangle Club. Although the rain tried to dampen spirits, Otise and John held fast to the true purpose of the day and made the best of it! What an honor it was to be a part of your day! My wishes to you for love, happiness, and joy throughout your marriage! (*Note: longest post of your life ahead!)

Another one of my favorite babies turned into one of my favorite walking one year olds! Perhaps walking is an understatement, running is more like it! :) When we were first talking about locations for photos, we had originally decided on a green-y, flowery, pretty, nature-y place. But then Lars's mom and dad decided that he was only going to be a one year old in the city once so we might as well capture it! I think Lars pulls off the city look quite well!

I am always honored to photograph people but am extremely honored (perhaps a bit nervous as well!?!?) when other artists is similar fields ask me to photograph them! That was the case for Mike and his family. You might remember Mike from previous posts...I was able to work for him on the City of Fairbault's website. Mike is a fantastic web designer for Livefront and does some photography as well. He also designed the Child Care Resource and Referral site in Rochester. Sorry, had to brag about him a little! The day after these photos were taken, Mike's brother left for Africa for a whole year so needless to say, they wanted a few updated family photos before he left!
